Teri Handelman

Community Catalyst, Co-Founder

Teri has been in the field of education for 20+ years and has a passion for engaging students to find the joy of learning. She taught at The Punahou School in Hawaii, Prospect Sierra in the East Bay, and The Julia Morgan School for Girls (JMSG) in Oakland. Teri was a founding teacher at JMSG, an all girls middle school, where she taught math and financial literacy for nearly 10 years. She is a pioneer in teaching financial literacy, having written the financial literacy curriculum for the BizWorld Foundation that now teaches it worldwide.

Along with being a full time Mom, Teri was an active member of the PTA at the Washington Elementary School in Burlingame, serving as Vice President, and continues to teach math and financial literacy in an after-school program at the Carey School.

Teri holds a B.A. from UC Berkley and a Masters in Education from Chaminade. When not focused on education, Teri can be found seated at the piano pursuing her love of music, attending to her 3-year old French Bulldog Sage, or planning her next trip.
