Katie Hennessey
Humanities and Writing Teacher and Advisor
Katie has been an educator in some capacity for more than 25 years. Starting out as a volleyball and softball coach while she was an undergrad at Loyola Marymount University, to her first full time teaching position in St. Bernard Parish in the suburbs of New Orleans, to her years as an adjunct and teaching assistant during grad school at the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley, to her most recent long-term position teaching English, Religious Studies, Creative Inquiry and Health & Wellness at Sacred Heart Prep in Atherton, Katie’s heart and mind have always been focused on forming young people to have a meaningful life. She is excited to start her next adventure in education at Field.
The only thing Katie is as passionate about in life as teaching, is being a mom to her three girls, which is what she spends most of her time doing. Together with her family and friends, Katie loves to cook, take long walks, read, and puzzle. She is also an avid sports fan, with a life-long love for her hometown baseball team, the Angels, the Saints from her adopted home of New Orleans, and the burgeoning local professional women’s teams–Go Bay FC and Go Valkyries!!
