Jake Kim

Math Teacher and Advisor

With a love of mathematics and a deep commitment to student success, Mr. Kim brings energy, passion, and professionalism to the classroom every day. He holds a B.S. and M.S. in Applied Mathematics and Statistics from Stony Brook University in New York, as well as an additional M.S. in Actuarial Science from the University of Iowa. Most recently, he taught Algebra II, Precalculus, and AP Statistics at Woodside Priory School in Portola Valley, California.

With a decade of experience teaching high school mathematics from grades 9 through 12, Mr. Kim believes that effective instruction starts with thoughtful planning. He uses backward lesson design, integrates real-world applications, and incorporates technology to create meaningful and engaging learning experiences. His approach is rooted in understanding the unique needs of each student, helping them build confidence and develop strong problem-solving skills.

Mr. Kim has served as the advisor for the Math Club and as the golf coach. Through these roles, he encourages perseverance, curiosity, and teamwork, both inside and outside the classroom.  

In his free time, Mr. Kim enjoys taking walks with his wife at Mori Point Park in Pacifica and watching San Francisco Giants games.
